The VI Hydrocarbon Exploration and Development Congress, "Expanding Frontiers", summons all professionals and technicians of the oil and gas industry to actively participate in this multidisciplinary event.
The main goal of this VI Congress is to draw attention to the demanding requirement of leading the exploration frontier towards new objectives such as still non-productive basins and non-traditional areas of the productive basins as well. Diminishing oil and gas reserves and the pronounced decrease in exploration in Argentina are well-known, so it is a priority to develop new ideas and find the right tools to explore within those areas and reverse the declining reserves trend.
It is essential to expand the frontiers of our imagination elaborating original and innovative ideas and methods to explore the still unexplored, including deep and shallow targets and subtle traps in known basins. The tasks to increase field reserves by moving resources into reserves and raising recovery factors must continue by building upon the advances achieved during the last decade.
Moving beyond known technological frontiers constitutes a permanent challenge in our industry. New tools and techniques will optimize our efficiency to explore, develop and produce hydrocarbons. The paradigms and models applied for a long time have made it possible to reach the current development level. Perhaps, it is time for restatements, granting priority to the intellectual and technological enrichment, favored by the exchange of experiences.
The VI Hydrocarbon Exploration and Development Congress will include, as usual, several symposia, the IInd Workshop of Geotechnology as well as oral and posters sessions. The Congress desires to create the most appropriate environment to analyze the themes that not only compromise the geoscientists professional spirit but also the future of our activity, bearing in mind that creativity and courage will definitely constitute essential requirements.
